Interesting analysis. Agree with you that the significantly increased US presence was partly sales oriented for the targeted India specific platforms, and partly strategic signalling-cum-showcasing superior technology, with an aim to wean India away from Russia, inline with US National interest, I feel. With the rise of China, Indo Pacific is now the centre of gravity for global/regional dominance play. Geo-strategically, India has thus become a critical, but as yet reluctant, player.
Coming century belongs to Asia.
