  1. Very well written, Anil.

The fault lines and traditional rivalries have been brought out so very well.

Manipur is a state with tremendous potential ; nature has endowed it with everything that one can hope for and also high quality Human capital. Manipur is capable of becoming a developed state purely on tourism, sports, outdoor activities such as trekking, camping, boating, cultural shows, hospitality etc. All it needs is peace and stability. Manipur has the largest per capita medal tally and per capita representation in the country in international sports. The state is a tourist’s delight.

Geographical location makes it a very critical border state.

Of late, the Myanmar refugees, both the Rohingyas and other tribes are also creating new problems. They come in groups and settle in the forest areas – actively supported by some tribes.

Meitis feel alarmed and endangered because of the way they are being sidelined by others using reservations. There is very little by way of employment other than government jobs that are available.

At the end of the day, as everywhere else, it is the poor people of all communities who bear the brunt.
My heart goes out to the people of thet beautiful state.
Thanks for writing such a wonderful piece on the Beautiful state of Manipur
